Photo Fridays- Welcome Home

Buon Appetito

Buon Appetito

Food photography is usually vibrant and colorful. My last photo of food was such.

Today I wanted to show something different. The colors in this photo were dim to begin with as it was late on a rainy afternoon. By removing the color and heightening the contrast I was able to focus on the steaming pasta and the shine of the plates and cutlery to create an ambience of warmth and happy homecoming.  There’s even a towel to dry the rain off. And who doesn’t like to come home to a warm plate of pasta?

Wishing you all warm homecomings this weekend.

  1. Much as I adore the rich hues of the previous food post, in color, I do love this photo, Chia. Maybe it’s just me, but I find the black and white adds a certain elegance and a sense of, hmmmm, timelessness? wistfulness?…I would like to dive into this lovely welcoming scene, or recapture it here, where I realize we actually are celebrating a couple of special homecomings this weekend. Good wishes back atcha. Grateful for the beauty you add to my world. Xo

  2. Chiarina, I am constantly in awe of how you can make the simplest shot come to life with your enhancements. Please keep posting and explaining your process. For me, this is invaluable information

  3. Beside of the nice story, indeed , the colorless approach took my attention . I was a bit surprised in a good sense ’cause you present this kind of photographs not that often, Especially by doing this , you express a rainy day by its window on the rear. In addition , the lighting or/and exposure is very nice done to welcome us what you describe.

  4. This photo is just perfect…….I have started loving your photography, its so impressive ! I am a fan 🙂

  5. Mmmm
