One of my favorite beaches to visit on the island is Botanical Beach and it’s extension, Botany Bay. With it’s unusual geological structure, it houses a vast assortment of sealife. At low tide it is possible to walk along the sandstone to see the myriad tidepools that have been carved out over time by natural forces. The one below has a lovely heart shape.
You can also walk all the way North to Botany Bay which is lined with black compacted layers of shale, quartz and basalt that jut up at sharp angles.
I was up there this past Sunday and got to photograph this slendid jewel not only at low tide but with some amazing fog conditions. The one below is one of my favorite photos from the day.
More pics of Botanical Beach can be seen here.
Did I mention it has some awesome Saurian shaped driftwood too?
Wishing you all a splendid weekend!
