Photo Fridays – Enraptured

While on holiday in Italy recently I became enraptured of the many beautiful sculptures I was fortunate to see. Some of these were wondrous creations in museums by the likes of Michelangelo and Bernini. Others, like this little jewel above, decorated tombstones in cemetaries, to be seen only by those familiar with the deceased or those lucky enough to walk by.

Great weekend to all!

  1. I am very fond of walking through cemetaries myself for just this reason – grave monuments are interesting to me because they are meant to appeal to a small audience (family, friends, even what the deceased might have specified) and then to the larger one (people walking by like me) – and so I enjoy looking at the sculptures for their appearance and also for what they might have meant, why they were chosen. Thanks for this post. What a beautiful expression on the face of this sculpture.

  2. Oooo, I agree with Claudia above-such a stunning expression on the scupture’s face, so much emotion. Thank you for sharing. So glad for you that you were so inspired by your travels!
